Notice to All:
To help address some of your questions, here is a brief insight into factors governing the scheduling process:
- RNLL received Hartman Park game slots on March 12...a full two weeks later than in past years and promised for this year.
- In the scheduling process an effort was made to utilize the All Weather Fields at Hartman Park as much as possible assuring games could be played in wet weather.
- Late in the scheduling process, RNLL was provided slots at Hartman Park that allowed for AAA games to be moved from Dickinson and Evergreen Jr High to Hartman.
- The RNLL regular season ends one week earlier this year as compared to previous years. This is due to the LWSD School year ending one week earlier than lastyear. RNLL targets completion of the regular baseball season upon the end of school for the majority of our players.
- The End of the Year - All City Tournament starts on June 3 and ends on June 16 (last day of school for LWSD). It was agreed with RWLL that we end the City Tournament on June 16 to accommodate the All-Star activities and Summer Tournament Teams.
- A concentrated effort was made to provide the maximum number of games for our kids to play.
With all that said.....as you know it has been a very trying experience compiling the RNLL game schedule this year. We have challenges obtaining good field slots for games and practices. We have worked closely with RWLL and the City of Redmond in securing the Hartman Park slots. King County has helped with slots at Marymoor Park. LWSD provides RNLL access to the Elementary School Fields and has allowed us to make improvements for better play on those Fields. Bottom line...there are not enough good baseball fields and playing time to accommodate the demand in the area.
RNLL is working on a campaign to have 2 additional Baseball Fields built on the Redmond Ridge Park site. These would be RNLL Fields for use by all Divisions. The availability of these fields would take the pressure off the need for City Fields and create a "home" Park for our League.
The community atmosphere of owning and playing at this Park would pay great dividends for our kids.
Moving forward with the season, we now have an agreement in place, allowing for a workable relationship that is acceptable to all parties involved. There were some very harsh words exchanged and some lines in the sand adjusted....but in the end, we are reminded that this is for the kids, not egocentric adults.
As a governing Board of Redmond North Little League, we are very interested in your comments. Please feel free to contact me or any of the Board Members with questions or concerns. We look forward to a FUN and successful season.
I sincerely appreciate the volunteer efforts of those that make it possible to have this League for our kids. You are all to be commended !!
Now....Let's PLAY BALL !!!
